Surah Fussilat Chapter 41 of the Quran is a Meccan surah named after the word fussilat, which means "explained in detail". This name refers to how the Quran's verses are thoroughly expounded for those who understand. Revealed during a period of intense opposition, the surah addresses the denial of disbelievers and contrasts it with the steadfast faith of the righteous.
To counter the polytheists' disbelief, the surah highlights Allah's omnipotence by describing the majestic creation of the heavens and the earth in six "days". It explains that all of creation, from the primordial "smoke" of the universe to the flourishing of barren land with rain, testifies to God's ultimate power.
The final verses re-emphasize the Quran's truth and resilience. It is an "honorable, respected Book" that falsehood cannot approach from any direction. The chapter clarifies that the Quran serves as a guidance and a cure for believers, while those who deny it are spiritually deaf and blind.
